Weeknote #49

  • A double week update since I forgot to do a post last week as it was Good Friday

  • I went to a 90th birthday dinner in a gorgeous gothic building tucked away in Wandsworth - it was such a lovely afternoon and the building was so stunning that I had to stop and take a picture when I saw it!

  • Finally cast off Nick’s first pair of hand knit socks. These were on the needles in some form from early January and took a couple of attempts to get right. I hadn’t realised how much longer men’s socks, with their larger stitch count and many more rows, would take compared to socks for myself

  • I knit an Emotional Support Chicken over the Easter weekend - it took around 9 hours total time spread across Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and a trip to the sewing shop on Saturday for toy eyes and stuffing

    • It was gifted to a friend’s 3 year old son for Easter and he wouldn’t go anywhere without it all day so I think it was a hit!

  • Spent one evening cat sitting for Hamish who I snapped a picture of in a particularly flattering pose he adopted

  • Our tulips in the front garden are starting to bloom which look beautiful

  • I had such a good wavy hair day that I just had to document it

  • When out for a Good Friday pub lunch, my Portuguese purling charm that I wear on a necklace chain to help with long stretches of purling fell off my chain and I lost it so I ordered a new purling pin from the lovely Atomic Knitting which I’ll add back onto my chain

  • Since the clocks have gone forwards and there are lighter evenings, my mood has been much better this week and I’ve been getting up early for work to get an hour of knitting in before I need to log onto my laptop

  • My new sock cast on this week is the Wildflower and Honeycomb socks by ThisHandmadeLife in the always lovely sock yarn from Birdstreet Yarn in the colourway Stella Bella

    • It’s lovely to be doing some (easy) lacework again

  • At bell ringing this week, I rang in my first method! As the treble in Plain Hunt on 3 I successfully rang through three repeats of the method in a row which felt like a huge achievement
