Weeknote #13
I’ve started playing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on my Switch and I’m hooked! It’s taking a lot of time away from knitting but I don’t mind that too much. Just need to be careful I still get this gift knit finished by the end of June…
One tomato plant is thriving, a second has just been transplanted into the grow bag and the others are struggling. I might give up and buy some baby plants from a garden centre soon so we still get some home grown chillis.
Concussion is slowly healing but I’ve not been cleared to stunt at cheer yet so I’ll just be jumping and dancing at competition on Saturday. Luckily someone from the rec team has agreed to fill in for me for this competition and I’m hoping I’ll be back to it next week!
Our accommodation for this weekend’s competition got cancelled by the Vrbo property owner on Wednesday(!) - we booked 6 months ago and they claim they didn’t notice that they’d double booked which is appalling. To add to that, the Vrbo “booking with confidence guarantee'“ doesn’t actually mean they’ll get us another room - just that they’ll help us find somewhere else to stay if they can which is terrible. Not sure I’ll be using them again in the future.
Finished a slightly tricky debug issue and fix this week at work which I’m really proud of - had to write the solution in Python which is a language I’ve not used since the vague self-teaching I did over 4 years ago!
Had a taster session of bell ringing at a local church this week which was surprisingly good fun! I’ll be back every week to learn how to ring and hopefully if enough of our parish church join in then we can start ringing for services and weddings.
This week was Pint of Science, a worldwide science event that runs talks for 3 days across the world aiming to bring science to the public. I went to an event on Wednesday evening at a local pub with my partner which had the theme “Love, Sex, and Rock and Roll” - enjoyable but some of the talks were more engaging than others.
