Weeknote #7

Open gym, a theatre trip, a work social, a BBQ pub, and sitting on a cat; it’s been a busy second half of the week!

Easter Monday bank holiday was generally quite a chilled day for me - I spent it chilling out, knitting the gauge swatch for a new gift knit that I’m about to start working on, and repotting my tomato and chilli plants. The plants are now under a grow light on a 12hr timer so hopefully they’ll start growing stronger and be less leggy!

Thursday evening, I moved into some friends’ house to cat sit for their gorgeous ragdoll cat then popped out to an open gym for cheer. We have the week off from training but I didn’t want to miss a week of working out!

I was organising and running a department-wide social in the office on Friday afternoon with a Taskmaster theme. Our head of engineering was our Taskmaster and I ran the social as his assistant. Twenty four contestants competed in two individual, and four team, tasks and, after 90 minutes, four individuals walked away with various prizes and moderate respect from their peers.

On Friday evening, I went to see Operation Mincemeat at The Fortune Theatre with some friends which was outrageously funny and so good that I booked more tickets to see it with my partner next month on Saturday!

The original plan was to visit Hampton Court Palace on Saturday to see the tulips but our membership number hasn’t been issued yet, and we didn’t much fancy paying full ticket price, so we took a trip out to Kingston and tried a pub that specialises in BBQ food. We tried the brisket and pulled pork burger which were both fine enough but definitely not worth the journey all the way there and back in future.

In and amongst all of this busyness, I had endless cuddles from the incredibly needy and soft cat I was taking care of. I also made some more progress on my current socks project - only half the foot and toe left to finish.

Here’s to a quieter week next week!
