Weeknote #28
My first knitting FO since July! I’ve had 4 WIPs on the needles recently and this cami has ended up a little neglectled with just the double knitting armholes and neckline to do for the last couple of months. I’ll do a full post with my thoughts about the pattern and the knitting process but, for now, I’m happy with the finished vest top and I’m looking forward to the other side of winter when I can start wearing it.
I took a sick day on Monday with a splitting headache. My mental health has been struggling over the last few weeks as I’ve been very busy, the weather’s got colder, and the nights are getting darker but I’ve not given myself enough of a break so my body forced me to stop. After a quiet day of knitting, going for a walk in the fresh air, and cooking a cottage pie I felt a little better and ready to get back to things the next day.
The Scottish contingent of our team at work came down to see us on Tuesday and brought us some of his incredible homemade tablet. He’s given me his recipe and I’ve ordered a 10L stock pot to start trying to make my own!
On Wednesday, work hosted a pub social with funfair games as a follow on from our charity day last week which was a really fun evening. I won a lanyard and a 4 pack of stout but, most importantly, belted out ‘Build Me Up Buttercup’ with a colleague in karaoke and managed to avoid a hangover the next day.
As I’m most of the way through my current bullet journal (a Leuchtterm1917 notebook), I decided the time was right to look ahead to how I wanted to approach planning, journalling and notekeeping in 2024. I bought a Kokuyo Jibun Techo First Kit 2024 planner from The Journal Shop which arrived on Friday. It has three inserts and they’re interchangeable so I can keep swapping out the IDEA blank notebook when I fill it with journalling and notes, keep the LIFE insert year to year and, if I find I like the system, just buy a new diary insert for 2025 when the time comes. The planner starts from November of this year so I’ve already started playing around with it and added some of my plans and to dos but I think I’ll be sticking with my Leuchtterm until I finish it up.
