Weeknote #9
Finally some sewing! It’s been a long time since I last got my machine out but I’ve been itching to make these culottes for months now and I finally took the plunge with some stash yarn that originally had a different purpose. With a minor adjustment for both a full seat and swayback, a couple of front pleats to reduce the waist measurement, and a definitely-not-invisible zipper (I could’ve sworn I had an invisible one in my stash!) I’ve got a gorgeous pair of airy, flowery, cotton trousers that will be perfect for the warmer weater - let’s keep manifesting it and surely it’ll come?!
After the high of finishing the culottes in a couple of hours and being so proud of the fit, I decided to embark on the pleating needed for the front and back of a new Victorian chemise using the 223 Folkwear pattern. It’s very intensive and the back isn’t quite finished but I’m already loving the way it looks hanging on my dress form so I’m excited for the result.
Cheer training on Sunday was a success: hitting new level 4 skills, working drills, and linking skills together I’m feeling positive going into tryouts for next season in a couple of months.
I saw Eugenius again with a different group of friends which was just as fun a night out as always. Then the next evening I saw Maisie Peters at her Hammersmith Apollo gig which was everything I hoped the show would be. The tone was truly set when Cate, her warm up act, did a cover of Hannah Montana’s Rockstar and the scream-singing along didn’t stop from there.
At a work event I also spotted a fun poster featuring the title “Peer Gynt” which coincidentally is the name of the yarn the jumper I was wearing is made from so of course I had to snap a picture!
