Weeknote #5
What a week it has been! National champion and an Italian holiday…
It kicked off last weekend with the second competition of the year for my cheer team (London Dynasty Cheer - Royalty) in Nottingham. It was the ICC Nationals and we came first in our division making us national champions! We won a big trophy, banner, and each got a black t-shirt with some neon printing on the front which will be relegated to training or sleeping in. We later found out that we came 2nd out of all 43 non-tumble teams who competed that day across all levels - second only to the current L7NT world champions!
Once back in London, I had a day to recover from the weekend’s excitement and pack for the next four days holidaying in Florence, Italy. I took my Monday Sweater and new Lucy & Yak Coles as my daily wear plus t-shirts for each day.
For those who may not know, Italy is exceptional for gluten free dining which may be a surprise considering how integral pasta and pizza are to their diets. In Florence, I found numerous restaurants who are accredited by the AIC and several that even offered everything on the menu optionally gluten free - including fresh pasta!
While we did visit a couple of museums and walked to some of the viewpoints south of the river, the trip was mostly about the food and it absolutely did not disappoint. I’ll be dreaming of the wild boar pasta from our first night there for years to come.
During the holiday, I finished the first of my Hermione’s Everyday socks and started on the leg of the second - gotta cast the second on straight away to avoid the dreaded second sock syndrome! On the flight back, I got a terrible pressure headache so didn’t make all too much progress but we did meet a fascinating bloke who we were sitting next to on the plane and we spent the whole journey chatting about London, travel, and his business.
